Principal's Message: 5/2/22
Dear OHS Families,
May is here! With the first week of May comes OHS Staff Appreciation Week. I am extremely proud of the Osborn Hill staff. This year has not been an easy one. There have been staffing challenges at different points of the year, some for longer periods of time, that have placed extra strain on those at work. Though in many ways we are coming through the pandemic, there are lingering pieces to manage and at times it seems everyone’s patience is spent. Through it all, the teachers, support staff, office staff, custodial team, lunchroom staff, and daily substitutes and intern have all stayed focused on giving of themselves for our students. I want to personally and publicly thank this caring group for the support, creativity, and love they bring to our students and school each day.
I also want to thank Deirdre Obolewicz, Catherine Yarmosh, and Ashley Maguire for their work in planning the week ahead for staff and to all the families who are helping to make the week special. Please know all your efforts are greatly appreciated. It is a week we all look forward to.
Walkathon and Family Fun Night Thank You
This past Friday was a busy one with our annual Walkathon in the morning and the new Family Fun Night event in the evening.
The morning’s Walkathon went smoothly. Though a bit windy on the fields at the end of the walk, the walk itself was quite comfortable for the neighborhood stroll. This year, to conclude the walk, Courtney Cataldo lead all of our students in a series of stretches practiced with the Wednesday morning Run Clubs. It was a great way to end the event. Thank you, Courtney!
Friday evening’s Family Fun Night title did not mislead: it was both lots of fun and there were lots of families! It was a wonderful night of chances to catch up and spend time with others in our community.
Roshawn Lawrence, Emily Lusk and Catherine Yarmosh planned the event beautifully to allow for enjoyable time together with just the right amount of activities. It was a special evening so thank you to all who planned, volunteered, or attended.
Summer Birthday Announcements Reminder
As a reminder since May is here, please see the below information if your child celebrates a summer birthday:
- From May 1 to May 21, we will announce daily birthdays for the months of May, July and August for each of those days (i.e., on May 1, we will also announce July 1 and August 1).
- From May 22 to May 31, we will announce daily birthdays for the months of May, June, July and August for each date.
Your child will receive their birthday book on the above day (Saturday and Sunday birthdays are announced on Fridays). You are welcome to come in and bring a special birthday lunch during their 20-minute lunch time and visit with your child sitting at our special birthday table in the café.
Here are the times for OHS lunches for each grade level:
- KSO and KW: 11:25-11:45
- KSI and KM: 12:05-12:25
- 1st Grade: 11:45-12:05
- 2nd Grade: 1:15-1:35
- 3rd Grade: 11:00-11:20
- 4th Grade: 12:50-1:10
- 5th Grade: 12:30-12:50
