Principal's Message: 3/15/21

Dear OHS Families,

We had a good first week in the full-day schedule.  It was great fun to visit lunches throughout the week and see student smiles again in person.  It was also great to see live specials again and the creativity of our teachers as they adjust their usual instruction to accommodate our safety measures. I heard from several students at dismissal time that they were tired by the end of the day.  Our teachers and staff, including me, felt similarly as well!  We are all getting back into the rhythm of a full day.

Thank you, Staff!

I do want to again thank our staff for making this transition as smooth as possible. Our teachers and support staff have taken on different responsibilities and schedules at each change this year and have made it look easy, even under great challenges.

I also want to say a big thank you to Mr. Bill, Mr. Lou, and Mr. Gary, who had a big part in making our transition possible, making big moves these last weeks to open up spaces for specials, student and staff lunches, and more. We are really lucky to have this team.

I would be remiss if I also did not recognize our office staff for their work in the transition.  Mrs. Taylor and Mrs. Beatty have taken on more than should ever be expected.  Mrs. Budlowski continues to keep things moving and ensures nothing is missed at each step (and keeps me in line!).  Mrs. Galgano took on the herculean task of building schedules and sorting out responsibilities for the school.  I would be at a loss without this crew and appreciate their ongoing efforts.

RLA Shout Out

Our Remote Learning Academy students and staff have been working really hard this year to continue good instruction and learning in an unusual setting.  I want to thank our OHS students who try their best each day and have learned so much this year. Our OHS staff members currently teaching in RLA- Mrs. Selter, Mrs. Valentine, Ms. Renzulli, and Mrs. Izzo- have been successful because of their creativity and fortitude this year. Thank you for giving so much to our students. I know our RLA students and staff are working so hard!

Conference Early Dismissal Days – 3/17, 3/18, 3/25

As a reminder, we have conferences starting this week on Wednesday, 3/17, and Thursday, 3/18.  Students will arrive at the regular time and we will begin dismissal at 1:35 on each of these days.  If you have any change to your regular dismissal plan, please send a note for your child’s teacher.

Lunch Reminder - How to Order

Students in School

For students in school, the lunch ordering process will continue as it is, with students ordering in the classroom at the start of the day. No online ordering for students in school, please.  School lunches are passed out to students in the lunchroom.

The first lunch and milk each day will continue to be free of charge. Second meals will cost $5, a la carte items (such as an extra burger) will cost $3, and waters will cost $1.25.

We will continue to have designated nut-free tables.

RLA/Livestreaming Students/Siblings not in school

For those students not in the building each day, please see the information sent by Food Services. Lunches can be ordered online and picked up by coming to the main entrance of our school between 9:45 and 10:15 am each day.

Thank you, OHS families, for all your continued support and efforts to keep our community going during these challenging times.
