Principal's Message: 4/6/20

Dear OHS Families,

It is hard to believe we are a few days away from April break.

As we go further into this time apart, I am humbled by the work of people who are on the front lines helping those with the virus.  We have many adults in our OHS community who spend each day risking their own health to assist others as nurses, doctors, emergency responders, and beyond. We are indebted to them.  I am reminded of what Mr. Rogers (Fred Rogers) said:

When I was a boy and I would see scary things in the news, my mother would say to me, "Look for the helpers. You will always find people who are helping.”

Mrs. Greer, our Math Science Teacher, shared a video taken by her daughter, Katie, who lives in NYC, of the nightly 7 pm round of applause and cheers from the windows of high rises directed at the brave workers changing shifts.  I know our communities and those around the world have similar weekly bell ringing and displays of appreciation and comradery during this most challenging period.

Thank you to all the helpers in our community. I wish everyone good health and safety over the upcoming break.

David
