Principal's Message: 3/13/23

Dear OHS Families,

It is another busy week with progress reports being available on Monday and conferences starting up on Wednesday and Thursday.

Class Placement Letters

As in previous years, we will be accepting letters from families to provide information to our placement teams.  Please see the linked letter for more information about the information we will accept.  Please know letters containing information we do not accept will be returned.  Please send letters in by April break (by April 6, 2023) to Terry Budlowski (tbudlowski@fairfieldschools.org) so we can organize the information over the break in preparation for our placement teams.

Progress Reports Release on Monday
On Monday afternoon, your child(ren)’s second semester progress report will post to Infinite Campus.  Please review the progress report when you have a moment prior to your conference time.

Conferences this Week
This week we have our first two days of conferences on Wednesday and Thursday afternoon.  School will be an early dismissal at 1:40 both those days.  Conferences are 15 minutes long with the teacher.  Communication between home and school is vital and these conferences are a great time to share, listen, and ask questions all in the interest of supporting your child(ren).

CARES Assemblies

On Friday we had two CARES assemblies in the morning, one for K-2 students and one for 3-5 students. Though both assemblies were focused on recess expectations through reading a book and setting a goal, we tailored each assembly for the age range attending.  K-2 students are collecting crowns when they act like Katie Sue, the character in The Recess Queen book we read.  Grades 3-5 are collecting smiley faces of kind acts at recess that we talked about after reading Stick and Stone.  The goal for both groups is to earn an extra CARES recess next month, then an upper grade class will plan a structured recess to have with a younger class.

St Baldrick’s Event Coming Up Friday, 3/24
On Friday, 3/24, from 5:30-8:00 pm, we have the return of our annual Team Teddy St. Baldrick’s Foundation Fundraiser at OHS.  This event is in memory of former OHS student, Teddy Gerber, for whom Teddy’s Corner is named in our LLC.  You can support by purchasing raffle basket tickets or by supporting one of the shavees shaving their heads on Friday at Team Teddy.

Have a great week,

David
