Dear OHS Families,
Our big programs to close out the week were successful and powerful.
On Thursday, our two Awareness-focused CARES assemblies allowed some special people in our community to be honored. CARES Council members presented information about each special person, including their favorite candy, store, and restaurant to name a few. Our six bus drivers, Mr. Bill, our recess/lunch monitors, Ms. Karen and the kitchen staff members sat up front and were each given a student-designed crown and a gift bag of goodies. From the faces of our students, the comments from the honorees, and the tears in the eyes of attending staff, it was easy to see the touching impact of the programs. Anmarie Galgano deserves great praise for her leadership of the CARES Council in directing such a beautiful event.
On Friday morning, we welcomed our Bigelow Center friends for a visit in the morning. This is an annual tradition of at least the last five years and this year had the largest turnout yet of over 45 people! Our fifth graders impressed the crowd with five numbers under Mrs. Haskitt’s direction before leaving for their field trip to the Discovery Museum. Ms. Renzulli’s third grade class then came in and spoke with the attendees, asking questions they had prepared. We sent the Bigelow Center friends off with bookmarks made by our fourth graders that included kindness quotes. Thank you to all families who provided breakfast items for our guests. Everyone was impressed with the spread! Special thanks to Liz Giardina for organizing all the food signups and volunteers.
This was certainly a lovely end to the week with some events to make your heart sing!
Have a great week ahead!
