Principal's Message: 1/13/20

Dear OHS Families,

I hope you are having a good first few weeks of 2020!

This past week, our students had some exciting experiences.  On Monday, six fourth and fifth graders attended the CAS Leadership Conference at Sacred Heart University where they had opportunities to participate in activities and lessons to build leadership skills with area district students.   The Discovery Museum hosted our grade 3 and grade 1 students on Tuesday and Friday, respectively. The students and teachers reported some great learning from the trips.

On Thursday, we had some players visit from the Sound Tigers. Nick Schilkey and Bobo Carpenter, forwards for the team, read the book Z is for Zamboni and answered questions about their lives as hockey players.  It will be great fun for our students to see number 17 and 42 on the ice at our OHS night at the Sound Tigers game on February 8th.  Big thanks to Dayna Sheehan and Michelle Pennino for organizing the visit.

This coming week, there will be no school on Tuesday (1/14) due to the special election.  Teachers will be participating in professional development for the day.  The same will be happening on Friday’s early dismissal day (1/17) leading up to the long weekend.

Have a great week!
