Principal's Message: 2/6/23

Dear OHS Families,

I hope you have stayed safe and warm these last cold days.  We had quite an exciting week to distract us from the cold.

100th Day

On Thursday there was much to celebrate, especially in the primary wing, as we marked our 100th day of school.  There were some students who dressed like they were 100 years old, some related projects, and our kindergartners had some special activities for making 100.  So, happy 100th day, everyone!

Sweetheart Dance

On Friday, our APR was transformed into a winter ballroom and it was a wonderful night to come together as a community for the Sweetheart Dance. This was the first time it has been done but organizers Rebecca Hasiotis, Livia Gillespie, Eva Elinskas, and Marcia Lyman had everything orchestrated beautifully.  They flexibly adjusted plans to allow for more to attend with the two windows and made for a special evening for our students.  There were many parent/family member volunteers as well as many former students, who all worked together to make the night possible.  Thank you to all who helped and to all who participated.

Music in the Air

This past Thursday, our fourth grade orchestra had their first big performance for families on the instruments they started learning this past fall.  On the prior Thursday, our advanced orchestra and fifth grade chorus performed for families in their winter concert.  I want to congratulate all our performers on making beautiful music and thank Mrs. Trombley and Mrs. Haskitt for all their effort and care in guiding our students on the first steps of what I hope is a long musical journey.

Have a great week ahead,

David
