Principal's Message: 12/05/22

Dear OHS Families,

I hope you are having a good start to December.  Here are some updates for the start of the month.

Acts of Kindness Challenge Successfully Accomplished

This past Tuesday was our final day of our Acts of Kindness Challenge sparked by our Kindness Ninja presenter, Brian Williams.  I am happy to report as a school we recorded 5,971 acts during the fifteen school days.  Classrooms tallied the number of acts, which included writing thoughtful notes, helping a friend clean up, and inviting a friend to play.  I am proud of our students for the focus on the goal. I hope as they acted in kindness they felt the satisfaction of making someone else benefit from the kindness and that it sparks continued efforts beyond this challenge.

Gift Card Request

I sent out word last week about our current gift card collection to help families in our community who are facing financial hardships this holiday season.  We are collecting gift cards to area grocery stores, clothing stores, and department stores through December 15th.  Anything you can contribute will be appreciated.

Lockdown Drill #2

This coming week we have our second lockdown drill of the year.  As in past practice with these drills, I will send out a message to families once the drill is complete.  Our staff take these drills seriously and speak about them with students in ways that are appropriate for each age level.

First Semester Progress Reports

Our first semester is officially over and on the afternoon of Friday, 12/9, progress reports will be available in Infinite Campus. You can find the progress report in the “Documents” tab in IC.  If you have multiple students, you will need to toggle between students in the upper right corner.

Have a good week,

David
