Principal's Message: 11/9/20

Dear OHS Families,

We have another short week with no school on Veterans Day this Wednesday, 11/11. You will read below about our school’s plans for a virtual assemblies recognizing this special and important day.

Energized Guyz

On Monday and Tuesday, our 4th and 5th grade students will be participating in a special livestream program from the National Theatre for Children thanks to our PTA with organization by Missy McGuire.  The program is called The Energized Guyz and teaches what energy is, the uses of energy, how it is wasted, and ways to conserve.  It should be a great program.  Special thanks to Missy and the PTA for making it possible.

For our RLA families, your child’s teacher has received the links to the program and is invited to share with the whole class.  I also sent an email to you directly on Sunday with the link to the livestream and times available in case your child’s teacher does not opt to show it.  There are recordings that will be available of the livestreams if you miss the times available.

Veterans Day CARES Virtual Assemblies

On Friday, 11/13, we are going to have two virtual school assemblies in honor of Veterans Day.  Classes have been working on a special classroom activity in honor of Veterans Day. We will talk about those projects and the importance of the day as well as spending some time talking about our CARES expectations around school both for in-person and when we are on Google Meets.

11/25 Early Dismissal Day – Fully Remote Day for both cohorts

The day before Thanksgiving is an Early Dismissal Day and will follow the Scheduled Early Dismissal Day plan we used for one of the conference days in October.  AM and PM cohort students will be learning remotely from 9:00-1:30.  Your child(ren)’s teacher(s) will reach out with specific schedules for that day.  Specials times will be different.

District A-F Calendar

I want to be sure you all took note of the new A-F rotation calendar from the district.  With the change in last week’s PD day being added for Monday, they went through and adjusted the A-F calendar.  I believe for future changes, the rotation day will simply be added to the end of the year as we typically do with snow days. I apologize for any confusion with that last week.

I hope you have a great week ahead,

David
