Principal's Message: 11/1/21

Dear OHS Families,

I hope you had a fun Halloween last night.  We had a fun time celebrating at school on Friday with the two parades. It was great having families there to make the parade more special.  We ended the parade with a line up in the back field so students could see one another’s costumes.  I hope the students enjoyed the festivities.

CARES Recess

This past week, we scheduled CARES recesses, where upper grade classes plan a shared recess with a partner lower grade class.   Due to the weather, we were only able to have our fourth grade classrooms teamed up with first grade classrooms, but we have rescheduled fifth grade with second grade and third grade with kindergarten for this coming week.  The recess was a hit with first grade and fourth grade.  It is a fun opportunity for our older students to be positive role models and to build our community across grade levels.

Family Visitors in the Building

This week it was announced that we are allowed to have adult family members in the building during the school day.  Teachers need to get approval from me for visitors in the classroom and it is important to remember visitors will need to wear masks and maintain a 6-foot distance from students.  Visitors will sign in and out of the main office and enter and exit only through the main entrance.  Looking forward to having volunteers back in the building!

Election Day – November 2nd- No School

On Tuesday, 11/2, there will be no school for students.  Our teachers and certified staff will have a busy day of professional development.  Also, as a reminder, we do not have school on Thursday, 11/11, due to the Veterans Day holiday.

Have a great start to November!
