Principal's Message: 10/19/20

Dear OHS Families,

The past week brought with it some big news about the next transition for elementary schools in the district.  As decisions in our planning are finalized over the coming weeks, I will be sure to share those with all of you.  Below you will also find information related Halloween, the continuation of our book fair, and available tech support.

Halloween Planning

In thinking ahead to Halloween, we are obviously limited in what we can do (we will not be able to have parades this year), but we can still have some fun!  Since the 31st is a Saturday, we will recognize Halloween on Friday, October 30th

Students in the hybrid model are invited to wear their costume to school, without the Halloween mask, allowing for the face mask to be worn.  In considering costumes, please think about costumes that will allow students the ability to manage on their own for the bathroom and will be comfortable enough for the full cohort time.

Students in the Remote Learning Academy should refer to directions from their teachers about costume specifics.

For anyone who chooses not to wear a costume, which is completely fine, I would encourage the wearing of school colors, spirit wear, or Halloween colors.

Book Fair

This week the Scholastic Book Fair continues until 10/22 and we can use your help.  As expected, participation is down so far.  The team behind the book fair has been working really hard to make it possible.  Please support if you are able.

We will have more mystery readers on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday of this week.  For clues as to the reader each of those days, see our OHS Announcements Google Classroom (join code: lqbynxk). The mystery reader’s book reading will be posted on the website at 3:30 each of those days.

Tech Support Reminder and New Code

Sandy Kosh, our wonderful LMS, is going to start offering office hours for tech support questions via Google Meets. Starting October 14th, if you have questions about Google Classroom, our apps, logging in, passwords etc., join Sandy through Google Meet using the code OHStechQA (please note the change in code from last week). Her office hours will be B Days 9am-10am and C Days 2pm-3pm.  You can e-mail skosh@fairfieldschools.org if you need an appointment outside of these hours. Big thanks to Mrs. Kosh for offering extra support to our families.

Many thanks for your continued support,

David
