Principal's Message: 12/02/19

Hi OHS Families,

I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving weekend and that you are staying safe through the winter storm that is expected as I write this.  We had a short and busy week leading up to the break.

Responsibility Rainbow and Whole-School Dance Party

This past Wednesday, we celebrated the completion of our Responsibility Rainbow as part of CARES.  Students have been focused on being responsible since our last CARES assembly.  In celebration of reaching the goal by all our grade levels, we had three short whole-school dance breaks on Wednesday. The CARES Council selected the reward and DJ Galgano played the tunes. We even snuck in a Thanksgiving prank on the fifth grade teachers. It was a fun day and I am proud of our students for meeting the challenge.

Lockdown Drill

At the end of this week, we will be having our second lockdown drill of the year.  Our staff and students did a fantastic job with our first drill at the start of the year.  I will send out word to all of you once the drill is complete to let you know how it goes.

Cold Weather

Now that the cold weather is fully setting in, please help your children remember to bring in appropriate outerwear for recess.  We try to go outside as much as possible so jackets, hats, scarves, and gloves/mittens are essential.  Not surprisingly, this time of year is also the busiest for our Lost and Found bin, located just off the main hallway. If your child is missing an article of clothing, be sure to check the bin.

Have a great start to your December!

David
