Communication Protocol

• Weekly communication protocols will be established as a Team, Crew, and Community for consistent communication to families. These will include a brief overview of upcoming units, positive information, and feedback about events and activities happening within the school community. At RLMS, these communications can be found on our Curriculum Corner Website.​​​​​​​

• When there is a pattern of concern that needs to be addressed, the faculty member will reach out to the student’s guardian, via phone call or email, to inform them about the concerns.   

• Assessment information will be available in Infinite Campus Student Management System

• Teachers will clearly state who the email or phone call is coming from: Teachers will include their name, title, department, and school at the end of any voice message. Teachers will put their name, grade and content area in the subject line of the email or IC Message.

• RLMS will also provide a “Who To Contact” reference to all parents.  This will be posted on the Parent tab of our school website

• Infinite Campus will be used for assessment information and grades by teachers.

• Google Classroom will be used for assignment information by teachers

• Administrators and teachers will use Infinite Campus Messenger to families’ email addresses

• Teachers will communicate individually to parents via their .org email accounts

• Teachers will communicate individually with students via their .net email accounts

IMPORTANT: The parent email addresses that teachers and administrators will use are those that are entered into Infinite Campus. Please make sure your emails are updated in Infinite Campus.

• Responses are expected from the faculty within 24 hours. 

• Teachers will use their district email - the ".org" account.

• Administrators will use Infinite Campus Messenger to families’ email addresses

• Students will manage their .net email messages daily. 

• Grades and assessments are posted in Infinite Campus Student Management System.

• Feedback for students on their academic work is communicated through Google Classroom and/or through another digital application that the teacher is using. Examples include but are not limited to Flipgrid, EdPuzzle, Padlet, Google doc comments, etc.

• Teachers will use a variety of media including written, verbal, video for feedback.  Examples include but are not limited to Flipgrid, EdPuzzle, Padlet, Google doc comments, etc.

• Google Classroom is the central hub for communication for students and any links to other sites will be embedded in the students’ classwork. Information about useful resources and “most visited” sites will be provided by the school/classroom teacher.

• During launch units, teachers will review and communicate the skills needed with students

• Assignments for a class period should be posted no later than the start of the class meeting time. Some tasks will be shared/scaffolded at the relevant time during the class period since it might be dependent upon a prior task being completed.

• Assessments, performance tasks, and individual assignments require instruction and therefore will be shared (either as a whole or in individual steps) at the appropriate time within the learning process. Time will be allotted from that point on in order to ensure that students can successfully meet the criteria of the task. Teachers will communicate the timeline in which the work is submitted and any changes throughout the process (if formative assessment indicates that additional instruction or support is needed). For students with accommodations for extra time, their extra time will be determined in conjunction with the student’s team.

• A general unit plan with the essential question and concepts can be shared with the students in advance, and then particular tasks and assignments will be “live” on the day of the class meeting time.

• Curriculum documents are available on the Fairfield Public Schools website.

• Each school will have specific grade level/subject resources posted on their websites or their library websites.
• Please also see the Middle School Student Tech Support Site. This site offers tutorials and training on various digital applications made from the student perspective. These tutorials were created by the FPS Middle School -  Library Media Specialists, Technology Integrators and various teachers.
